Some inspiration to help get us ready for the first day of school...

A Back To School Poem
By:  Karen Cignatta Patton

The summer's end is nearing
and the weather's turning cool;
It's time to hit the books again
and head on back to school.

Brand new clothes adorn me
to mark this special day;
Pencils and a notebook
are neatly tucked away.

Yet I am rather nervous
as I travel up the path;
Will I still know my History,
my Spelling, and my Math?

Feelings of anxiety
now fill me head to toe;
I hope to see my closest friends,
as I have missed them so.

Smiling teachers greet me;
A classmate warmly calls;
Familiar sounds of laughter are heard within the halls.

My empty chair awaits me
as I contemplate and grin;
Eager and excited for the school year to begin.

Hope you are enjoying your summer vacation!

I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation!  Remember to take time to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and rejuvenate.  Summer is also a wonderful time to catch up on some reading.  If you are looking for some summer reads, you can check out the Association for Library Service to Children's book lists at:  http://www.ala.org/alsc/2014-summer-reading-list.  I look forward to hearing about the wonderful books you read over the summer!
See you in September!

Spring has sprung at NES!

Students at NES got outside today to enjoy the spring weather... finally!
Students got their hands dirty as they turned over soil and planted vegetables in our raised gardens.  Thank you to Michelle Walsh for all of her time and efforts to bring such an enriching experience to the students of NES!

Fourth grade students also got to go outside to get inspired for their poetry writing.  What a wonderful way to look for inspiration!

District Arts Festival

On March 13th, the NES students performed beautifully at the District Arts Festival!  Students spent the day participating in make and take art activities, student - artist demonstrations, and vocal demonstrations.  They watched the Color Guard performance and the Winter Percussion Performance.  The evening was capped off with the Festival Concert that included students from every school in the district.  It was a full day celebration of the arts.  Well done!
